Resident
Earnings: $44,000 to $80,000 a year
Requirements:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
• Accepted into a residency program
Responsibilities: Working in a hospital or another medical setting; receiving extensive on-the-job training in pathology; under the supervision of licensed pathologists, examining tissue, blood, and body fluid samples, diagnosing diseases, and presenting results to attending physicians.
Resident
Earnings: $44,000 to $80,000 a year
Requirements:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
• Accepted into a residency program
Responsibilities: Working in a hospital or another medical setting; receiving extensive on-the-job training in pathology; under the supervision of licensed pathologists, examining tissue, blood, and body fluid samples, diagnosing diseases, and presenting results to attending physicians.
Level 2
Staff Pathologist
Earnings: $100,000 to $300,000 a year, or more
Requirements:
• Completion of residency program
• Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• Licensed by your province or territory
Responsibilities: Examining tissue, blood, and body fluid samples; diagnosing diseases; presenting results to attending physicians; advising doctors on appropriate treatments for patients; overseeing the work of medical lab techs and pathology interns.
Staff Pathologist
Earnings: $100,000 to $300,000 a year, or more
Requirements:
• Completion of residency program
• Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• Licensed by your province or territory
